The project is a wood school located in Dalkeith Country Park, designed with a wooden structure and wood cladding. The theme, “sense of self,” is inspired by the planted trees, incorporating their ordered growth into the building’s layout. The design focuses on creating an intuitive, user-friendly space, with the natural form of the trees guiding the structure and spatial organisation. The building aims to provide a seamless, harmonious environment that reflects the surroundings.
TRANSPARENCY - The outdoor circulation between the two buildings creates a clear line of sight from the first building to the second building.
ORDER - The structure is characterised in a disciplined repetition to create rhythm and order.
SENSE OF SELF - "The ultimate meaning of any building is beyond architecture - it directs our consciousness back to the world and towards our own sense of self and being" - Juhani Pllasmma
