This international workshop, held in collaboration with students from Wuhan University, introduced participants to historic methods of spatial ordering through the study of the Edinburgh College quad. Together, the group analysed how rhythm, repetition, and proportion are expressed in the façades of the courtyard. Working across cultures, students produced analytical drawings and physical models that reinterpreted the quad’s ordering principles. The resulting studies abstracted its rhythmic structure, demonstrating how sequences of alignment and proportion can be reimagined as contemporary design strategies.
